Project description
Krasny Bor is a landfill for placement and storage of industrial toxic waste from enterprises of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region of hazard classes I-V, excluding radioactive wastes. As a result, over the years of operation, 70 storage pits were formed, which were filled with 2 million tons of toxic wastes. In 2014, their receipt was terminated. The activities of the landfill focused on safe keep of the previously accumulated damage.
Until 2014, 65 storage pits of Krasny Bor landfill were recultivated, filled with clay, a fertile soil layer and sown with grass. Five more storage pits remain open, they contain approximately 700 thousand tons of liquid industrial wastes. In 2018, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology included Krasny Bor toxic waste landfill, which has existed for more than 50 years, to a special register of facilities of accumulated environmental damage.
Within the works on this project, ASP-AQUA issues detail design documentation, maintains designer’s supervision of the construction and erection works at the site and exercises construction control of the works on elimination of the accumulated environmental damage at Krasny Bor toxic industrial wastes landfill.
